Fear is the first in a series of books in which everyone over the age of 15 disappears in 'the poof'. With the absence of adults, the city of Perdido Beach is governed by reluctant Sam, with the aid of his not-quite-yet-girlfriend Astrid, with her brother Little Pete in tow. The trio set off to work out where everybody has gone, uncovering the town's deadly past and mutant powers which threaten the united future of their little society.
With the help of mutants and regular humans alike, will Sam be able to keep his town afloat? Or will the many evils beat him into submission?
This book has lots of interesting twists and turns, a constant edge of suspense and plenty of unexpected developments which will keep you interested for the entire read.
